Built In Chicago is the online community for Chicago startups and tech companies. This eye-opening internship allows Chicago high schoolers to engage with STEAM fields while preparing for a variety of careers. Participants are given space for personal growth and scientific experimentation while connecting with peers from around the city. The Geosciences Bridge Program is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation and is a 6-week paid internship for graduating high school seniors. Participants study and participate in hands-on activities in marine geology, physical oceanography, atmospheric science, marine biology, marine chemistry, biogeochemistry, and remote sensing/GIS. Review the information below and consult your advisor for more details. For fine arts students majoring in various areas of art and theatre at Stephen F. Austin State University, internships often take them to big cities in far-away places and open the doors to exciting experiences. GGI Pitch candidates must be enrolled full-time in a degree-granting graduate program at UChicago at the time of application. This includes students who meet these criteria but will have graduated by the time they begin their internship. A student may hold up to two GGI-funded internships during their time at UChicago.
UChicagoGRAD will also confirm recipients’ good academic standing with their research advisor or Dean of Students as applicable and confirm individual project plans with host organizations. Shortly before the end of the academic year, all recipients will attend a prep session featuring a presentation on making the most of your cone health portal internship, a panel discussion with past GGI interns, and a reception with fellow members of this year’s GGI cohort. Following the conclusion of their internship, recipients will also be asked to submit a reflection essay. Finally, recipients may be asked to serve as mentors for the following year’s cohort of interns.
Stipends of $6,000 will be awarded to eligible projects and are available on a rolling basis. Mentors can now submit project proposals for the summer 2019 internship season! In 2016 alone, RMI majors interned with more than 20 organizations all across the country, from California to New York and from Houston to Chicago.
