This is an interesting idea. To have a new standard of purity and value, we could use it as a way to create a new breed of super-humans who are able to control their power, as well as a way to give our leaders and politicians a real reason to worry about our ability to produce the metals needed for their government.

The problem is that we can never truly know of what we would be able to produce if we were able to access the technology. We can only use it to our advantage if we use it wisely. All we know is that the technology that we are given to use in the game is more refined than the technology that existed in the past. If we were to use it to our advantage, we would need to learn how to use it wisely.
