My wife recently bought a new bedroom for our home and I was torn between decorating it or simply putting it on the curb. I had a vision of a dark, gothic-inspired bedroom and thought I could put in all the elements of a gothic, horror film. What I didn’t anticipate was my reaction to all of the gothic-inspired elements.
The gothic in gothic-inspired rooms is usually created by adding blood and grime to the furniture, walls, and ceilings. That’s all well and good, but it does the room a disservice to make it seem like a gothic horror film in your new bedroom.
The main thing that is wrong with gothic-inspired rooms is that they don’t give your bedroom a distinctly gothic look. You don’t have a blood-splattered wall in your bedroom (unless your room is really dark). You have a clean floor plan, which makes it hard for the camera to tell you’re in a gothic movie.
But with the right set of furnishings and decor you can make your bedroom a gothic fantasy world.
If your space is a little scary, then it makes sense to decorate it to make it more comfortable for your sleeping partner. You can even get some really nice lighting with candles and plants. Then you can just turn the room into an enchanted realm.
I have a gothic bedroom, and I think it’s probably the best one I have. It has the very same set of furnishings as my bedroom at home. The decor is very reminiscent of the books I’ve read, and I think it helps that I am a big fan of gothic literature. But I also think it makes sense that I would be a fan of gothic literature too.

Here’s a gothic bedroom idea for you. What I have is a gothic bedroom and a gothic bedroom. You know, you can just put anything you want into there and it will look beautiful. Like I have a black velvet gothic bed with a gothic pillow and a gothic duvet. So you just pull out anything you want to put into your own gothic bedroom.
So why get a gothic bedroom? Because it looks good? Because you want to be able to hang out with your bestie at the end of the day? Because you want to have something to remind yourself of that time when you had a little goth? Because it’s a good looking thing? Because you want something gothic.
If you have a gothic bedroom you want to make it as pretty as you can, you want to make it as elegant as you can. Otherwise, you’re just going to end up with a boring gothic bedroom, which is not a bad thing. You want a gothic bedroom that looks as good as it feels, and that feels as good as it looks.
