Photography is essentially a nonlinear process of capturing a dynamic image in a given moment. As such, it is one of the most subjective and personal art forms out there. The same is true for any creative endeavor.
Photography is an easy task to master for the inexperienced photographer, but not so much for the most seasoned digital creator. As a rule of thumb, for a camera you should get at least one good picture before you throw in the towel and move on to the next one. This same rule of thumb should apply to the photography of anything real estate.
While there is a huge variety of photography gear and techniques, there are basically three basic types: manual, digital, and auto. Manual photography relies on manual controls and is best for still life situations. Digital photography uses a camera to create a specific image, but it can also be used to capture a scene in the moment. Finally, auto photography uses a computer to take a picture and then manually aligns the shot to the composition.
The basic rules of photography apply to real estate, but there are some interesting variations. Digital photography is a whole new ball game because it can be used for a variety of situations, from a commercial poster to a photo of a newborn child. Auto photography is also a whole new ball game because it can be used for anything from a photo of a home that’s been completely gutted and gutted to a photo of a home that’s been completely gutted.
