Every time I come across a photo of Olivia Plath, I find myself in tears. Sometimes it’s because I saw her on a TV show, and other times because I was in the room with her. Either way, it’s a special moment and I can’t express my feelings enough.
I think a lot of us feel something similar when we look at a photo of Olivia Plath, whether it was an image from a TV show or being in the room with her. The first time I saw her in a photo, I felt that the photo was a bit too intense, but the moment I saw her in real life I knew she was someone I would want to be with and spend time with.
She is an American actress who won a Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1997 and is considered one of the most important American poets of the 21st century. She has written more than thirty books and more than 60 plays. She is the only poet to win the Nobel Prize in Literature five times, and one of the last women to win it. She was a finalist in the 2008 Nobel Prize for Literature, and a finalist in the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
She is the only writer and artist to win the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize in Literature in the same year. She was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2013.
The poet, who’s also a renowned music critic and author of a column for the New York Times, has been on a number of high-profile writing tours, including the Sundance Film Festival, the BBC’s Reading Live series, and the U.S. Presidential Inaugural Gala. She is known for her poetry, plays, and books of essays and criticism.
Olivia is a writer, a photographer, a lover of music, theater, the outdoors, and all things connected with “the way of being.” She is a self-described “self-obsessed, self-loathing narcissist.” Her blog is often called “The Dark Side of Self-Interest,” and she’s the author of the memoir, “Tiny Beautiful Things.
I’ve talked to Olivia about my blog before in the past, and she has often been very gracious and encouraging. Now, just a few weeks after my post on self-awareness, she took the time to give me a tour of her new photography site, Olivia Plath Photography. Here’s just a small sample of the things she has to say about being a writer.
She describes an author as:“A writer is a person who knows that they don’t have control of their writing.
She also describes a writer as someone who is constantly on the go. She doesn’t say this as necessarily a bad thing, but rather in the same way that a waiter or waiter’s assistant doesn’t expect to be working that many hours when they sign up to work for a restaurant. She describes herself as a writer because she has time to write.
The thing is that a person can be a writer and also work as a waiter or a waitress. They might just have differing opinions on how to manage their time.
