The great outdoors is a wonderful place for kids to learn, play, explore, get exercise and enjoy the benefits that nature has to offer. But in order to make this happen, you need to know what’s out there and where your family can go. If you’re looking for an activity for your child while on vacation or if you want a way to spend some quality time with your entire family outside, check out these 11 activities for families: how they can get your kids outside in this blog about sport.

  1. Hike and Bike Trips

A hike in the woods can be a quiet experience for kids and the perfect time to talk about nature. Kids love to hike up to a waterfall and have a refreshing dip on the rocks. Or if you have kids who are already into biking, plan a bike ride with them where they can stop along the way at places of interest.

  1. Skateboard Rides

If you’re wanting to get your child or children outside this summer, try teaching them how to skateboard. Whether or not you have a skate park close by, getting each child to build his or her own unique board, and then riding them down your local street can be very rewarding.

  1. Pet the Dogs

Your neighborhood may have a dog park that is open throughout the entire season, but if not, get some dog treats and a leash and let your kids pet dogs (or cats) in the neighborhood. It will be a great way to teach them about other people’s pets and also be good for socialization.

Visit Farm Animal Parks

Some areas will offer farm animal parks where kids can feed animals and interact with them as well as roam around the fields afterwards. This can be a great experience for your own kids as well as other children who may be visiting your neighborhood farm.

  1. Dolphin Tour

Just like kayaking, dolphin tours can be a fun activity for kids that is both memorable and educational at the same time. Sometimes you can even befriend dolphins and see them up close.

  1. Learn about the Wild

You can teach kids about the wild with activities that allow them to get out of the house and explore nature on their own terms. For younger children it is helpful to choose nature activities where they don’t have to climb rocky hills or swim in large water areas, but where they will still get a lot of education out of it.

  1. Moongate Expeditions travels

Moongate Expeditions travels to many parts of the world and provides kids with a unique experience, by exploring underground caves and hiking along the countryside.

  1. Go To A Camping Trip

Camping trips are an excellent way to spend more quality time with your own kids in a fun environment where they can explore their own surroundings. Usually at campgrounds it is easy to do some hiking, canoeing, swimming and more with your children while still having time to talk about nature.

The Rock Gym

The rock gym is an excellent place for children to learn how to climb on top of rocks as well as boulders in a safe and controlled environment.

  1. Take a Kayak Trip

Kids can learn more about the outdoors by taking a trip down the river and learning more about where they are from the vantage point of a kayak.

  1. Visiting an Aquarium

Aquariums are popular for families that have kids and you can schedule an appointment for your family to visit one when they are at home. Not only will it be educational, but you’ll also be able to choose what kind of fish or other marine life your children can touch and see up close as well as get to know each other through this educational activity.
