I love working with Howard Shatzberg. His eye for composition and attention to detail is incredible. In this series, we’ll look at a variety of images and talk about how they were shot.
I was surprised to receive this request because I don’t usually feature photography like this on my blog. The reason is because a lot of people don’t know it’s possible to do a variety of things with photography, and this is one of those “I know but I can’t because I don’t know how”. So this series was a request I got from someone that was a complete stranger to me. So I’m glad I got to do it because there are some really cool photos in there.
It is true that photography has always been a popular medium for art, even before digital cameras. I’m not sure what sparked this request, but I think it might have to do with my penchant for shooting portraits and being able to shoot something that doesn’t have a frame. I think it made me excited to see a photographer who specializes in these types of images.

This is something that I have always enjoyed doing. Recently, I have been shooting portraiture that does not have a frame. In some cases, I have been shooting a subject with a wide variety of body types, but I have also shot a few people with very similar facial features.
Shatzberg is known for capturing portraits of people from all walks of life and it’s easy to see why. He has a knack for capturing people in all the right places, in all the right poses, in the right lighting, and in the right mood. So you’ll see portraits of people who are in the right frame. What I’m talking about is the portraits of people who are in the wrong frame.
One of my favorite Shatzberg photos is of a couple of my friends looking at a Polaroid picture of their baby. I always think of the Polaroids as the perfect photography tool. However, many of them end up as pieces of art, meant to be viewed by the photographer who took them.
Sure, you can buy a Polaroid camera with a camera that takes the exact same photo as the one you took of your friend in the same pose. But for the most part, Polaroid cameras aren’t exactly the most accurate of the cameras you can buy. The photo they take isn’t always the exact same as the one you took with your phone. That’s why a lot of Polaroid camera owners choose to have their own models.
Sure, I can understand having a Polaroid camera. I can even understand having a camera that takes a photo of yourself taken from a distance. I can even understand having a camera that takes a photo of a friend.
It’s really not that bad. But there are a few negatives to having a camera that takes a photo of you taken from a distance. One of the biggest negatives is that Polaroid cameras arent very good at taking good photographs of people.
