As I mentioned, I am a photographer, so I like to think of my photography as a form of storytelling. I want to tell stories through the images that I shoot, so I think about the images as metaphors for the memories that I want to leave behind. Like the way I tell stories through music, I like to imagine my images as stories that tell a story, so I think about the images as a way to create a narrative.
This is a technique that’s been around awhile now, but I haven’t really been able to find an example of it for a while. It’s just something that I’ve been really loving lately. I find that when I’m sitting in my kitchen with my camera open, I try to think of a story I want to tell through the images that I’m taking.
I wanted to show the different ways people tell stories through photography, because it really gives you an opportunity to start the story without having to actually know what the story is. Im just trying to make a point of sharing what I like to call “memory lanes”. Basically, this is when I take a set of images and I try to make them tell a story in some way.
If you want to know how to show people a story through images, check out the book I wrote called Stories in Mind. It is a collection of articles that explain what Im talking about. I think that it’s really important to remember to find your story in the images you are presenting, so that it’s easy to remember when you’re trying to share it.
You can easily find your story in the images you are presenting. It’s easy to get lost in a crowd of people with their camera and their phones and their selfie sticks. There are so many different ways that you can share your story with the world. You can tell stories as you have them with your photos, of course. Or you can find your stories in the stories you tell in life.
In the past, when I shared images from my camera, I would often find them in the comments of a photo posted somewhere else. When I first started blogging, I used to find and share pictures, just like everyone else. But then it occurred to me that I wasn’t sharing my stories with the world, I was just sharing them with all of my friends and family.
But I think the real story isn’t in sharing it, it’s in sharing yourself, in letting the world see me. If you haven’t yet, I encourage you to start blogging. You will eventually find your stories in the stories you tell in life.

One of the best ways to get your friends and family to stop gushing over your photos is to do it yourself. If you’ve ever done any sort of art, the best way to make people stop is by showing them. So, if you’ve ever painted a picture and tried to post it online, I’d encourage you to go ahead and capture your own version of it and post it yourself (or, if you’re too lazy, use it as a gallery to share with your friends).
This seems like a silly, simplistic way to promote self-photography, but remember that people are more likely to buy art if they are familiar with the artist. Even if you are the only person in your family with a camera to take pictures of your house, you want at least your friends to know the work youre doing is worth looking at. And if youre not up to it, you can always post it on your Facebook wall, which will lead to more sales.
