This farmhouse bedroom is one of the best pieces of furniture I own, and it has been used as many different ways, including as a bed, a desk, a nightstand, a headboard, as a dresser, and even my very own sofa. It looks as if it has been through the hands of many hands.
I wouldn’t say it’s a piece of furniture, because it’s not. It’s more like a character in a sci-fi story who has been created through the hands of many hands. That said, I can’t say that it’s a bad thing. I feel like it represents the culmination of so many of our homes’ styles, and while it’s not the most sophisticated piece of furniture I own, it works as well as any piece of furniture I own and does its job.
I have always been a fan of beds that are crafted from hand-cut pieces of wood. This one is no exception. Even though the bed has a solid wood frame, the bed frame is hand-carved out of a single block of wood and then covered with a layer of white paint. The pattern is incredibly intricate and beautiful, and looks like something you would find in the early 1900s.
While these beds are gorgeous, they do have a tendency to break. In fact, I was thinking about my new bed the other night and how I could really use a good, sturdy wood frame for something smaller and more compact. Then I remembered, this is a man-made bed, not a man-made piece of furniture, so I should probably build it myself.
