I’ve always loved to mix a little dark gray and black in colors that reflect the space we find ourselves in. It’s a great way to create a sense of comfort and quiet. There are no distractions. They might be loud meetings, the sound of a text, or even a text from someone I don’t know.
In an office we find ourselves in, it can be hard to tell who is who. We all have things to hide and fear of disapproval. In a dark gray office, our office looks like a place we know where people can still be themselves, and it makes everything easier to find. It not only makes us more secure but it makes us more comfortable.
When I was in high school, I used to love going to dark gray offices (because it would mean I could get away from the loud parties that usually surrounded me) and I would spend hours there writing code, or just staring at the floor. It is a very calming environment for me.
In the corporate world, we have a new rule: If you are not wearing a tie, it is probably time for a tie. That is the case for many in the tech industry as well. The only thing you can do in an office that is remotely uncomfortable is not wearing a tie.
Well, if you are sitting in an office that is all dark gray, you are probably not going to be doing much in it anyway. And if you are going to be doing any work at all, you are going to be sitting there.
But this is the wrong way to do it anyway. You can’t wear dark gray because it is the color of death. But you can use your tie, and all the other things that are not just to add to your comfort, all of which are very important, to project a more positive attitude about your work.
The next time you are sitting in an office that is all dark gray, take a moment to really look around at the world around you. Are you seeing all the little things that you are not? Are you seeing your own thoughts, feelings, and body language? Are you seeing the people around you? Are you seeing the things you might be missing? The truth is that your emotions and thoughts can actually affect the things you are doing.
For example, if your body was very relaxed, say, you were in a dark room, your body would be very relaxed. And if your body was very tense, say, you were going to a party, your body would be very tense. The more relaxed you feel in your body, the less likely you are to be tense. The more tense you feel in your body, the more likely you are to be anxious.
In the office of a big corporation, this applies not just to the people you work with but also to the people who work in the same place. Your thoughts, actions, and emotions influence the people around you because that’s how the world works. In fact, in the same way that when you are not thinking about your next drink order, you never really order a drink, your thoughts and actions influence the people around you.
The tension we feel in our bodies is actually tied to our emotions. That is because when you are anxious, you are more prone to do things that you normally wouldn’t. For example, if you are anxious, you might not pick up the phone and call a friend, instead you might be driving home late at night and drive with your engine on full blast. This means your actions have an impact on those around you, which makes you more anxious.
