I love photography and I love photography challenges. So when I heard about the december photography challenge, I thought it would be a good opportunity to share my work with you. My friend and I are a photography team and for the past two years, we have competed in december. The first year, we did a group photo challenge and then we did a solo challenge. The solo challenge was to take a photo of each individual dish served in our restaurant during the whole day.
The december challenge was much bigger, with 16 dishes to shoot. We had to capture three things: the food, the food in the dishes, and the food in the dishes. Of course we were also allowed to add other elements like the atmosphere and the light. It’s also really important to be a very good photographer. You can’t get a good shot unless you know exactly what you’re shooting and what you’re trying to capture.
The challenge was a success. We ended up with a total of 28 photos. All of them were beautiful, and all were great ways to capture the atmosphere of the restaurant. We’ve been planning to do a similar challenge during Christmas because we’re hoping to go back for one more meal.

The idea is to take photos that represent the mood of the restaurant. The challenge itself is to create a photo that shows the atmosphere of the restaurant, not the overall mood of the day, and not just the mood of the day.
The challenge was a success because we got 28 beautiful photos. Of these 28, I have two favorites: One picture shows the restaurant in the bright and cheery day after holiday, and one picture shows the restaurant in the dark day following the holiday. Both photos were gorgeous. The second day following the holiday was darker and more somber, and those two photos had more energy. The challenge was easy because the goal was to take photos that showed just the mood of the restaurant.
The challenge was easy because I would be happy with 27 photos. I would have preferred 28, but that would have been cheating. That’s why we have “photos with a goal.” I would have liked a more ambitious goal like “50 photos by the end of the month.” Then there would be a competition and everyone has to show off their best effort. Since the challenge was fun and easy, I’m not complaining.
Yes, it is fun and easy to take photos of people, but then you have to show off your photos. There must be at least 2 of each of these people in the photos. I think that is kind of a boring way to take photos.
Well, if you have a camera that can handle the heat, the sun, dust, and the harsh light from above, then you need to take pictures that capture the beauty in the moment, without taking your eye away from the subject. This is especially true with your iPhone, since it is a camera that handles the most sun, dust, and light, but it is still limited to taking photos of the subject itself.
For those of us who have iPhones, here’s a challenge. Take a picture of someone you know. Or, better yet, take a picture of yourself in a way that you would be proud to show to a friend. You can add in a caption under your picture telling the person what they did.
