I love the idea of making a gift for an interior designer. You could take her to lunch, or have her come to your home to help you design. There are so many design styles that it would be nice to show her something that you’ve thought of and show her what you like in your home. You could even have her come to your home on a special, quiet night to look through all your work and give you some ideas of what you’d like to see.

Even though I am not an interior designer, I have always been told that I do a great job of finding new ways of showing what I love. Interior designers do like to have their work displayed, but often they tend to have their designs “in the clouds” because it’s harder to see them. That’s not an issue here because the designers are looking at every inch of your home, so you don’t have to worry about the design being hidden. Most interior designers have a good knowledge of color and design, so I’m sure they could come up with an awesome color scheme or layout. I’m just not so sure that I’d use a color scheme or layout that I didn’t understand.

A designer is usually someone who has been designing for a long time and has a ton of experience making a design that fits a particular style.
The problem is that most designers are usually not designers from the same style as you, and they make design decisions based on the way you live and the way your home looks. If you have a great designer who can get the colors/contrast you like and understand how to make the design that you like, but she hasn’t been doing design for a long time, she may not be the type of designer you want.

I’m a little reluctant to say that the Design Institute is a good way to learn how to create interior design because the entire organization was founded by the same guy who created the very popular interior design site iD. The D.I. is a bit more of a do-it-yourself website, similar to iD with the added benefit of a very good education program and good prices.
