I love nothing more than spending my weekends outside. Whether it’s gardening, cooking out, or just relaxing on the patio with a good book and some wine – I always feel so much better after being in nature for a few hours. But sometimes it can be hard to get your outdoor spaces organized and looking nice when you have limited time. That’s why I thought I’d share these ideas of what you could do if you had just one weekend to design an outdoor space!
I’ve been dreaming about designing my own outdoor space. I have a lot of ideas, but the time and money to do them all at once is limited.
So I’m going to design one area per week, starting with this post on what you should do if you had just one weekend to design an outdoor space. Here, in this lifestyle blog you can check some more tips on weekends to design an outdoor space.
1. Remove old furniture and clutter from the space
The feeling of a fresh start is so invigorating. For some people, it’s not about the new year, but rather about the start of a new day or week. Regardless of when you decide to set your intentions for clearing out old furniture and other clutter from your space, we’re here to help make the process less daunting by walking you through each step in detail.
The best way to start getting organized is by removing old furniture and clutter from the space. Start with a fresh slate, so you know exactly where everything goes!
2. Add a new outdoor rug to make it feel more inviting
If you have a deck, porch or outdoor space that is used often but could use some decoration, consider adding a new rug. This will make it feel more inviting and also protect your flooring which can be expensive to replace if damaged by weather or heavy objects. You can find these rugs in many different colors and patterns so they’ll go with any existing decorating scheme. Plus, there are plenty of great styles to choose from like the traditional Moroccan style patterned rug pictured above.
3. Paint the walls with light colors, like blue or green to match nature
Painting your walls with light colors can have a hugely positive effect on your mood. Studies have shown that blue and green are the best colors to calm you down, and any shade of these will do the trick. The primary colors for this post are going to be blue and green because I want to show you some great examples of light-colored walls in nature.
4. Replace all of your light bulbs with LED lights for energy efficiency
In today’s world, the environment is a hot topic. The easiest way to help the environment is by reducing your energy usage. One of the best ways to reduce your energy usage is to replace all of your light bulbs with LED lights. With an average lifespan of about 20 years, LED lights use 75% less electricity than traditional incandescent bulbs and can last up to 50,000 hours before they need replacing! And because LEDs work better in cold weather, you’ll never have a problem finding the right bulb for winter again! So ditch those old incandescent bulbs and make sure you’re doing what you can for our planet!
5. Buy some fresh flowers to add life and color in the room
Many people decorate their home with flowers, but it can be hard to find a good place for them. Flowers are great not only because they enhance the look of your home, but also because they have many therapeutic benefits. Flowers release oxygen and help clean the air in your room so you can breathe better. They also make any space more welcoming and relaxing! If you’re feeling a little down or anxious, the first thing people suggest is to add some fresh flowers and color in your room. There’s no better way to find some temporary relief than by adding a few plants to your space.
6. Put up a hammock so you can relax outdoors while reading or listening to music
The summer is finally here and it’s time to take a break from the daily grind. There are plenty of things to do that will help you relax, but sometimes nothing beats laying in your backyard hammock with a book or listening to music. In this blog post I’m going to show you how easy it is to set up a hammock at home so that you can enjoy the outdoors all day long without worrying about bugs, dirt or anything else.
