The camera phones were made by a bunch of poor college kids in China who wanted a better camera phone than the cheap, crappy cameras they were using. The camera phones of today are much more advanced and have many features that are not available in the cheaper phones of yesteryear.

Camera phones are great because you can take a picture and put it on the camera and it will automatically turn into a still image, and its not like you have to think about how to take the shot. However, flash isnt quite the same. Flash cameras are built into the camera itself and you have to take an image first before it can turn into a still image.
Flash cameras work just fine in most situations, but they have some issues. For one, you have to have very high power in order to take a good picture. And most flash cameras have zoom lenses, so you have to have a very wide angle to get a good picture. In addition, flash can be very dangerous, as the flash can burn you with light if you arent careful. So, unless youre a professional photographer, I cant recommend them.
Flash photography is still in its infancy, but some photographers do this job on a daily basis. And just so you know, there is another way. The old man photos you see above are the kind of thing you can do yourself. I bought one of these camera kits from a friend.
