The Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching sustainable, renewable technology solutions. Since 1985, the Institute has been helping the education community understand the role of sustainable technology in the everyday lives of people and learning how to create opportunities for sustainable technology to be used in the classroom and at home.
As a member of this group, I have been a part of many events to share my passion for sustainable technology education. This summer I participated in a “Sustainability Symposium” organized by the Institute in partnership with the UW Alumni Association. It was very inspiring to see the great enthusiasm and knowledge coming from UW alumni for sustainability as it applies to their lives now.
As a member of this group, I’m a part of a group of people who’re in full control of their own lives, and my role as a facilitator is to help them manage their own lives so that they have the opportunity to do things they care about.
I think one of the things that was really interesting in the symposium was how the UW Sustainability Institute, with its focus on sustainability research, had a great impact on students’ lives. I think there is an awareness that sustainability matters, but it is important to think about it in a non-hierarchical way. You can’t just look at sustainability as a department like any other, it has to be a way of life.
The institute seems to be a great place to start in thinking about sustainability. Many students are involved in environmental and sustainability projects, and it is great to see them get involved with something that is of benefit to them personally.
The sustainability department within the institute is run by a board of advisors who are all highly educated in the fields of sustainable living and sustainability. They are all committed to making sustainability a part of the school’s curriculum, and the faculty is involved in a wide range of projects that affect students.
The institute is a wonderful place to start because it is a place where students can learn a lot about how to think about sustainability and be active participants in it. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

Like many colleges, the institute is trying to find ways to reduce the carbon footprint of its campus, and a major part of that is doing things like installing solar panels to power the campus. If you’re looking for a place to study sustainability, this is the place to be.
The institute is housed in a beautiful building on a beautiful campus. I really hope they make this their focus for the next few years. I mean, I cant wait for the university to take down the ugly black steel building that currently occupies most of the space and use it to house solar panels.
